[PR] 9/15 Food Recovery Network

**NOTE: Please read this information carefully, as this event is different from our usual PR events**

This will be our first time collaborating with Food Recovery Network! You will be assisting them at 2 different locations, which are separated into 2 different shifts that you can sign up for on Evenbrite. You can sign up for either both shifts (transportation is self-provided; biking will take around 5 minutes), or whichever shift that’s more accessible for you if you can’t come to both.

You will first help loading up the Yolo Food Bank truck in Central Park parking lot with produce from Farmer’s Market. Afterward, you will move to Solano Park Community Center (Building 2500) to help with bagging those produce and distribute them to families and people in need.

When: Saturday, 09/15/18

[R&E] Debate

Come take on your fellow R&E interns in a battle of wits and critical thinking. You will be split into two teams of three and debate over a preselected topic. This event involves a large amount of independent research that is done before the actual debate, so be prepared! Due to the intensity of this event, the winners of the debate earn2 R&E credits (the losing team still receives 1 credit). The winners are chosen by the panel of judges, based on the structure and overall effectiveness of their arguments.

The purpose of this event is to work on improving your Powerpoint design skills in order to enhance the aesthetic value of presentations. You will be given a previous VICE presentation and be tasked to create better flow from slide to slide and increase its overall attractiveness. You are encouraged to incorporate graphics, animations, flow charts, and any other visuals, as well as reorganize the information as you see fit for a creative and effective delivery. Be cautious about altering the text, as it is important for presenters to know what to narrate.

August 4th Saturday Clinic - Primary Care Clinic

Hello Clinical Interns,

Thank you for signing up for Saturday clinic!

Please be aware that we can only take 4 interns for this Clinic.

If you cancel without finding a replacement, you must notify us 48 hours before clinic starts. If you can find a replacement, you are able to cancel after the 48 hours deadline.

If you register or cancel after the confirmation email has been sent, you must notify the VN CARES Co-D. FAILURE TO NOTIFY US WILL RESULT IN A STRIKE.

Please remember the following when signing up for clinic:

Interns are required to complete 4 clinics: One Sunday Clinic and Three Saturday Clinics.

*IMPORTANT: One of the three Saturday clinics must be on 07/07, 08/25, 09/08, 09/15.

[R&E] Presentation Making #4

[Online OR In-Person Event]

In lieu of our usual weekly meeting presentations, you can sign up presentation making events where you create a ~12 minute presentation on a science-related topic of your choice. The presentation MUST use at least one primary research article as a source and you are expected to complete 2 dry-runs with your Team Leader (may be through Skype). You will submit a video of yourself presenting the material along with the presentation and  will recieve feedback on your research, aesthetics, and delivery.

You will receive 1 R&E credit upon completion of this event.

This presentation and script will then be approved and translated into Vietnamese to be used at clinic. Use of primary research articles is NOT required for this event. [R&E] VICE Revamping #1

[Online Event]

The purpose of this event is to work on improving your Powerpoint design skills in order to enhance the aesthetic value of presentations. You will be given a previous VICE presentation and be tasked to create better flow from slide to slide and increase its overall attractiveness. You are encouraged to incorporate graphics, animations, flow charts, and any other visuals, as well as reorganize the information as you see fit for a creative and effective delivery. Be cautious about altering the text, as it is important for presenters to know what to narrate.

You will receive 0.5 R&E credits upon completion of this event.
